A Student Discount Privilege…
Me: Bayad po! (as I handed my fare to the Jeepney driver)
Driver: Saan to? (trans. Where’s your destination?)
Me: Recto po, Estudyante. (trans. Recto, a student)
…then the driver hands me back my change, if there is.
For years, I have been enjoying the student discount in buses and most of the time, Jeepneys. Now that I am on my final year as a student, I must utilize it more often, even during weekends. LOL! Just kidding.
So basically, student discounts are not effective during weekends, holidays, summer and Christmas vacation but since I am one of those thrifty or should I say opportunistic students (yeah, guilty as charged). I still pay the student fare during vacations and weekends, unless the driver tell that my fare is not enough.
When my student life reached its end, I’ll definitely miss my student discount. 20% discount is a big thing, now that the basic commodities are not getting any cheaper. There will definitely come a day that I’ll go on trip and test if I can still pass as a student when paying the Jeepney fare.
Or if not, I have no choice but to wait for my Senior Citizen discount. LOL!
