No Parking at this side.

One Saturday, while I was waiting for my mother and siblings to finish their passport renewal because I just claimed my renewed passport, I was wandering outside the Department of Foreign Affairs building… I happened to notice one thing…

What have you noticed? Take a closer look at the picture…

A “NO PARKING THIS SIDE” sign posted and yet there are cars parked at that particular side. Anyhow, I saw an officer (I don’t know how to call him…) in uniform that gives tickets for a particular parking slot which happens to be that same side.

I don’t know if it also happens during week days, I don’t know either if the officer was aware of the signage. Oh well, he MUST be.

Noticing the signage and the cars parked, I immediately took a photo of it. It was a clear violation. Considering that the violation was made in a government institution made me confused. I mean, the primary individuals who should first follow the law are the ones who made them right? What do you expect from ordinary people if the government is not even following rules? They should be a role model.

I don’t know how much the parking fee cost and I don’t know if the management is aware of this infringement nor if the officer would just like to have his “side line” income.

I didn’t got the chance to talk to the officer, to ask him or “interrogate” him. However, at the back of my mind, I realize people will do anything just to earn money, whether it is through a positive or a negative way. This scenario is not even a pinch of how much people can do just for the sake of money and I believe whatever those are, you better know it than me.

Mga Pilipino nga naman! tsk.

Following simple rules is one of the numerous ways to show our love for our country and be a good citizen of it. Following rules can promote peace and help in making a better future for the next generations. No, I am not running for anything politically, it’s just that, as I enter the early adulthood, I just want to take part in building a better country for a better world.

I know we are just human and we just want to earn a living to survive our everyday life, which is very impossible to live without any source of income but greater blessings comes from clean acts. Come to think of it. If people will follow simple rules and then there will be less stress, less violence or simply less negative vibes— things.

Let us start with ourselves, and with ourselves, we can influence other people and together, we can attain a “healthier” place to live in.

Taxi drivers required to issue receipts - SC New Ruling

Taxi ReceiptIn an effort to protect passengers against scrupulous and abusive taxi drivers, the Supreme Court has released a new ruling that require taxi drivers to issue receipts. According to LTFRB (Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board), the Supreme Court ruling would result to additional revenues for the government.

This new ruling would prevent the taxi drivers in using tampered meters with the use of “batingting” and the infamous “contracting services”.

On the other hand, some taxi operators and drivers are complaining over the expensive meter that issues receipt which  will cost them around P24,000 per unit.

I’m officially a commuter!

UP IKOT

I am officially a commuter today! I am not actually ignorant about commuting. In fact, I have been riding the MRT and LRT to go wherever I want or if the situation asks me to commute. Throughout my kinder years to my high school years, I have been riding a school bus. However, since I am now studying at UP Diliman, I have to take the pains of commuting. I still find myself lucky because I do not have classes everyday. My family and I are living in Caloocan. Hence, commuting to UP Diliman is such a tedious task. Imagine, I need to ride two jeepneys and a bus just to arrive in UP Diliman. As well as one jeepney ride to the building where my classes are. Going home is much easier because I only have to ride two jeepneys.

Being a student of UP Diliman, one should familiarize his or herself on the route of UP IKOT and UP TOKI. UP Toki is the opposite of the UP IKOT route. Thanks to the useful maps that I have seen on the UP Diliman’s website, which gave me an idea on what jeepney to take to arrive at my destination on time.

My first day as an official commuter is fine except for the fact that most of my daily allowance went to my transportation expenses alone.
